BREAKING THE NATIONAL MYTH
THAT LIMITS POTENTIAL

“Chinese people will never be great at running.” This belief that permeates China has resulted in no one coming close to the national record, much less challenging on the bigger stage. In 2018, a small crew was put together to run against the grain of popular belief.  They are called ‘Dark Horses’.

The story landed on our laps as a brief to 'cut some footage together for a video we can show at the Shanghai Marathon'. To do justice to the runners, we refused. What ended up was a push to tell this story the way it should be told, hustling to put it together with a lean crew and limited time, and a story that inspired runners to challenge destiny.
